Thanks, Ray, for that sermon.

I have been realizing also that ministry is not for me to do stuff for God, but first for me to be able to experience God, the empowerment of his Holy Spirit, the call to obedience. I think this also goes hand in hand with love within the church, as well. Loving the enemy near us as well as the one far away.

Secondly,I've been thinking this year about Ephesians 4 a lot, so thank you for bringing more light to it. I have often come back to that verse about captives. I have thought about how Jesus should captivate us, as well. How I want to be captive to Jesus. I don't think I ever realized, and I think your reading is more correct, that Jesus captures evil so that we are free. I also thought about freedom bc I was reading thru Jeremiah and came across Jer 34:17: "Therefore, this is what the Lord says: You have not obeyed me; you have not proclaimed freedom for your fellow countrymen. So I now proclaim 'freedom' for you, declares the Lord--'freedom' to fall by the sword, plague and famine. I will make you abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth." Freedom from the Lord is bondage to sin.
